Coretime has developed a seamless link between Tempus Pro Online and Microsoft's MS Project

Coretime has just launched its seamless link with Microsoft's leading project management solution, MS Project for versions 2000 and 2002.

In summary, the link between Tempus Pro Online and MS Project™ uses a utility developed by Coretime which is accessed from within the Projects section of Tempus Pro Online utilising the Document Link (tab) feature.

The MS Project link requires Tempus Pro Online's Task Manager to be installed.

Every project created within MS Project creates a file with a ".mpp" file extension. By locating this file using the Document link feature within Tempus Pro Online, the user can create a link between the Tempus Pro Online Project and the corresponding MS Project™ project.

The utility is run on a project-by-project basis.

The data exchanged between the two programs is as follows:

From Tempus Pro Online:
	All Employees created within Tempus Pro are available resources within MS Project™
	All Tasks are set up within MS Project. When the utility is run, tasks created within MS Project™ populate Tempus Pro Online's Task Manager. As each task is associated with a resource, the imported tasks will populate the appropriate employees tasks within Tempus Pro Online.
	Time recorded against a assigned task will, when the utility is run, transfer the total time recorded against the task back to MS Project™ and update the % completed field, based on the number of hours recorded to-date against the task.

From MS Project™:
	Tasks created within MS Project™ automatically create a task within Tempus Pro Online's Task Manager. If the task is assigned to a resource, the task will be assigned to the appropriate member of staff within Tempus Pro Online. The expected duration of the task is also included in the task.
	A MS Project™ task can also be used to update Tempus Pro Online's Staff Planner (separate module) allowing the planning forward of staff resources within the Tempus Pro Online system.
	The MS Project™ task can also be used to create a budget entry within Tempus Pro Online. This has the added benefit that time can only be recorded against those tasks raised within MS Project™, if so desired (uses Tempus Pro Online's standard budgeting utility to only allow time entries where the appropriate budget is in place).
