: Links to Microsoft Project
Coretime has launched its seamless link with Microsoft's
leading project management solution, MS Project for
versions 2000 and 2002.
In summary, the link between Tempus Pro Online and
MS Project™ uses a utility developed by Coretime which
is accessed from within the Projects section of Tempus
Pro Online utilising the Document Link (tab) feature.
The MS Project link requires Tempus Pro Online's Task
Manager to be installed.
Every project created within MS Project creates a file
with a ".mpp" file extension. By locating this file
using the Document link feature within Tempus Pro Online,
the user can create a link between the Tempus Pro Online
Project and the corresponding MS Project™ project.
The utility is run on a project-by-project basis.
The data exchanged between the two programs is as follows:

All Employees created within Tempus Pro are available
resources within MS Project™ |

All Tasks are set up within MS Project. When the
utility is run, tasks created within MS Project™
populate Tempus Pro Online's Task Manager. As each
task is associated with a resource, the imported
tasks will populate the appropriate employees tasks
within Tempus Pro Online. |

Time recorded against a assigned task will, when
the utility is run, transfer the total time recorded
against the task back to MS Project™ and update
the % completed field, based on the number of hours
recorded to-date against the task. |

Tasks created within MS Project™ automatically
create a task within Tempus Pro Online's Task Manager.
If the task is assigned to a resource, the task
will be assigned to the appropriate member of staff
within Tempus Pro Online. The expected duration
of the task is also included in the task. |

A MS Project™ task can also be used to update
Tempus Pro Online's Staff Planner (separate module)
allowing the planning forward of staff resources
within the Tempus Pro Online system. |

The MS Project™ task can also be used to create
a budget entry within Tempus Pro Online. This has
the added benefit that time can only be recorded
against those tasks raised within MS Project™, if
so desired (uses Tempus Pro Online's standard budgeting
utility to only allow time entries where the appropriate
budget is in place). |

: Full Web Version of Tempus Pro Launched
In November 2001, the Company launched its full web
version, Tempus Pro Online. Featuring all of the benefits
of the Windows program, with the additional flexibility
of enabling users to record time and expenses, and manage
projects off site, this product is already proving to
be very popular with existing and new customers alike.
Unlike competitor products, where only time and expense
entry can be access via the web, the entire Tempus Pro
Online package can be accessed via the web browser.
With Tempus Pro Online being platform independant,
Apple Macs can be used to record time and expenses via
Internet Explorer.

: Browser Version time entry module announced
It's here. Full web based timesheet entry via your
browser on any hardware platform, anywhere. Up to now,
use of Tempus Pro was restricted to those using PC's
running MS-Windows operating system. The product was
installed on each PC on the network. Users or Apple
Mac's, Linux, Solaris etc. could run Tempus Pro only
via expensive or clunky add-ons such as Citrix, Virtual
PC etc. Also, those wishing to enter timesheets from
remote sites were forced to dial directly into the network
using PC-Anywhere, or other remote access products.
Running Tempus Pro on Multiple Platforms:-
- Timesheet entry now available via Internet Explorer
browser.
- No software installed on client PC, Mac etc.
- Time and Expenses recorded directly into standard
Tempus Pro database.
- Only the server needs to run Windows.
- Time and Expenses entry only - rest of application
available shortly.
- Project Managers use Windows version as before,
but can see data from all platforms.
Entering Data via the web or your Intranet:-
- Users only need access to program web page (or I.P.
address).
- No software installed on client PC, Mac etc.
- Time and Expenses recorded directly into standard
Tempus Pro database.
- Only the server needs to run Windows.
- Time and Expenses entry only - rest of application
available shortly.
- Project Managers use Windows version as before,
but can see data from all platforms.
- Users can enter and review data from any location
worldwide.

: Integration with MS-Project Introduced
In response to our users requests, we are pleased to announce
full integration with MS-Project. Particularly relevant
to those in the software, engineering and architecture
industries, this seamless link will remove the requirement
for tedious data entry of "actual" time spent
into MS-Project in order that timelines may be updated.
Features of the MS-Project integration module :-
- Staff are imported into MS-Project on creation and
are available as project resources
- Tasks set up within MS-Project are immediately available
within Tempus Pro timesheets
- Time spent on tasks, entered into Tempus Pro, transfers
into MS-Project as "actual time".
- Project timelines will thus be updated automatically.
- One click performs full synchronisation with MS-Project.

3.5 Released
Version 3 is a major revision incorporating a totally
revised user interface,with significant improvement in
response times.
Additional features incorporated in the new version

- Click and drag Invoice and Statement layouts.
- Additional and improved report layouts.

Feb 2000 : Staff Planner,
Task Manager and Remote Pack Modules Released
Each module integrates into Tempus Pro.
Staff Planner works like a network accessible wall
chart, allowing users to assign staff to projects on
a month by month basis.
Task Manager is particularly useful as a project management
and support tool. Tasks, be they development or support
are assigned to staff. They may then record time against
tasks. Time recorded and task completion status is monitored
and reported on. Task completion is thus assured.
Remote Pack allows laptop users to disconnect from
their network and record time off site. Upon their return
to base, Tempus detects the network and automatically
posts timesheet entries into the network database.

As part of our ongoing relationship with engineering

Affiliate of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland
