Case Study - The Berkeley Partnership

Businesses are continually having to change and adapt to stay ahead of their competition.  This means that business leaders are under pressure to respond to their changing business environment and market needs.

The Berkeley Partnership is a Management Consultancy based in Chancery Lane, London that helps businesses with a range of business challenges including expansion into new markets; the launch of new products and services; business transformations to adopt new business models; outsourcing or restructures; business turnarounds; divesting as well as integration post-merger or acquisition.

The Problem

With over 70 consultants across their business working on a range of products either individually or as a team there is a clear need to manage project time effectively.  The Consultancy were already using a variety of systems for capturing time and billing which necessitated a number of additional manual processes. They were  exporting data to Sage Accounts and expenses were also being logged on a separate spreadsheet. However due to changes in their billing methods and system of rebates, they were looking for a timesheet system which would allow them to manage billing more effectively and review debtors in real-time.  They also needed a solution which was cross-platform so that it could be used MAC, android mobile, iphone or iPad.

The Solution

Coretime was chosen as the preferred software solution by The Berkeley Partnership after a process of evaluation of a number of systems.  Initially 74 consultants would be using the software including 10 full function users with the rights to set up, administer and allocated user rights as well as to record time and expenses and manage projects. In addition the Staff Planner module was chosen to aid efficient planning of resources on projects and allocation of tasks.

The system was a good fit for their needs across both fixed fee and time charged projects. Among the different software features which were valuable to their business were the ability to assign different user rights across their staff; management of timesheet approvals; the ability to use a variety of charge out rates by position and project. The advantage of the Coretime and Sage 50 Accounts link meant that there would be less duplication of effort and data could be fed from one system to the other. With Consultants out of the office and working remotely on a frequent basis, the ability to track time on mobiles was also a key requirement which Coretime was able to meet.
